Read the passage and answer the three questions that follow.

Many cafés and takeout restaurants are trying reusable packaging as an alternative to single-use cups and food containers. In a typical system, customers receive their food in a durable container, pay a small deposit, and return the container later. After cleaning, the same container can be used again. Supporters argue that repeated use can reduce the number of disposable packages that are thrown away.

However, a reusable container does not automatically create less waste. The system works only if enough containers are returned and reused many times. If customers keep them, lose them, or throw them away after only a few uses, producing the stronger containers may bring little environmental benefit. Transporting returned containers and washing them also require energy and water.

Convenience strongly affects return rates. Some programs allow customers to return containers only to the shop where they received them. Others create networks of participating stores so that a container can be returned at several locations. When return points are easy to find, customers may be more willing to participate.

Restaurants must also manage hygiene and supply. They need enough clean containers available during busy periods, while dirty ones must be collected and washed safely. This can require storage space and additional work for employees.

For these reasons, the success of reusable packaging depends on more than the design of the container itself. A practical return system, repeated customer participation, and efficient cleaning are all important. Reusable packaging can reduce dependence on disposable items, but only when the entire system is designed to keep containers circulating for a long time.

解説

(1)

a reusable container does not automatically create less waste.

The system works only if enough containers are returned and reused many times.

always

When return points are easy to find, customers may be more willing to participate.

Making containers easier to return may make customers more willing to participate

したがって、A(TRUE)です。

(3)

can reduce
may bring
only if

always
